Justice Beyond the System: A Deeper Journey Through the Mission of Jesus, a Grace in the Weeds six-week study by Rev. Dr. Amanda Whittington

Justice Beyond the System: A Deeper Journey Through the Mission of Jesus
Six weeks of study, practice & blessing, for the weary, the wondering, and the ones untangling a faith that hurt.

Were you handed a gospel that told you your suffering didn't matter? That taught you to stay small, stay quiet, and wait for heaven? This companion goes back to the mission Jesus announced for himself in Luke 4: good news to the poor, freedom for the oppressed, rest for the weary. It clears away the versions that got twisted so you can see what's underneath, a God who actually likes you.

This isn't a course to pass or a system to adopt. It's a gentle, trauma-informed companion for the untangling.

Every week has three movements

  • The Study: a deep-dive essay that turns one piece of Jesus' mission over honestly, including the hard parts.
  • The Practice: a gentle somatic reset, journal prompts with room to write, a personal liturgy, and a breath prayer to carry through the week.
  • The Blessing: a blessing spoken over you. It's the exhale, and all you have to do is receive it.

The six weeks

  1. Today, In Your Hearing (Luke 4:16–30): the line Jesus refused to read.
  2. The Song That Scared the Empire (Luke 1:46–55; 6:20–26): your worth was never your wealth.
  3. The Peace God Actually Wants (Isaiah 58; Amos 5): your silence was never holiness.
  4. The Question Jesus Refused to Answer (Luke 10:25–37): there is no "them."
  5. Permission to Rest (Leviticus 25; Luke 4:19): the Jubilee, and why you don't have to earn your rest.
  6. Today, In Us (Acts 2 & 4): the good news was never meant to be carried alone.
